Description
  • Provides assistance with applications to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation for funding programs such as the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program and the Home Adaptation for Seniors Independence

    Oversees and manages the following Housing Programs:

    Rankin Reserve Community Services Rental Units (RRCS)
  • Receives financial assistance from the government of Canada, through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
  • Consists of 54 units, which consist of one and two bedroom apartments and three-bedroom single dwellings

    Batchewana First Nation Turn Key Program
  • Allows the homeowner to pay their mortgage to the Batchewana First Nation (BFN) office until the mortgage is paid in full, at which time the BFN will issue the homeowner a Certificate of Possession

    Royal Bank Mortgage Program
  • Provides a letter of verification to BFN members from the Housing Department for them to attend the Royal Bank to apply for a mortgage
  • Allows the band member to build their own home if they meet the banks criteria, the mortgage will be guaranteed by the Chief and Council

    Renovation Program
  • Offers BFN members living on the Reserve a renovation loan up to $20,000 to renovate their home
  • Requires that the applicant meet the BFN criteria and be approved by Chief and Council, then the borrower must transfer the Certificate of Possession to the BFN until the loan is paid in full

    Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Section 95 Program
  • Secures funding for rent-to-own housing

  • Consists of a total of 10 units - 6 one-bedrooms and 4 two-bedrooms
